)k0oc"lk I BROWARD COLLEGE SIMULATION LABS <br />architecture • engineering Davie, Florida <br />ACAI was selected by Broward College to design <br />a LEEDO Silver Certified health sciences facility. <br />Completed in the Fall of 2014, the project includes <br />simulation laboratories, a large Cardiovascular <br />Room for 2 additional simulation Iaboratorie, <br />classrooms, administrative offices, student <br />collaboration areas, a 100 seat lecture hall, <br />remote learning center ancillary support spaces. <br />Each simulation laboratory is equipped with <br />human patient simulators with bedside computers; <br />specialized hospital equipment specific to the <br />function of each lab; internet access; digitalized <br />video; recording cameras and TV monitors. The <br />labs are designed to replicate realistic practice <br />settings and have an EMS ambulance bay, with an <br />Emergency Department and Triage area, along with <br />Critical Care units, Medical- Surgical unit, Trauma/ <br />Operating /Dental Room, a Labor and Delivery/ <br />Neonatal Intensive Care /Pediatric unit; and open <br />lab spaces to conduct large clinical drills, as well <br />as debriefing rooms, storage space, and video <br />recording control rooms. Each patient care unit <br />accommodates 6 students and an instructor with <br />an adjoining control room. <br />ACAI's services included programming of <br />the project, which consisted of preparing the <br />educational program to serve as the basis of design <br />for the educational facilities and site improvements. <br />The program included every space, its intended <br />use, capacity, additional requirements, such as <br />equipment, furniture, and special needs of Broward <br />College. Information was obtained through regular <br />meetings with the administrators, health service <br />instructors and business affiliates, including local <br />medical facilities to gather and review information <br />for the program. <br />The 65,000 sf building was designed in BIM platform <br />using Revit. <br />architecture engineering <br />roofing consulting <br />construction mania ement <br />
