Chapter 62
applies to all contracts for the procurement of supplies, services and construction entered into by
the City.
Chapter 62 currently requires that the City Commission shall approve all purchases of or
contracts for materials, supplies, equipment, public improvements or services where the total
amount to be expended is more than $25,000.00. The City desires to amend Chapter 62 of the
City Code to state that purchases less than $50,000.00 may be made by, or enter into, by the City
Manager without submittal to the City Commission, but shall otherwise require compliance with
the competitive bidding requirements set forth in Chapter 62. This increased spending limitation
is in conformity with neighboring municipalities that authorize expenditures up to $50,000.00
without City Commission approval.
•
