The <br /> 9 purpose of this ordinance is to require , since we <br /> 10 recognize a construction and home improvement <br /> 11 industry can pose a danger to the public when <br /> 12 there is incompetent or dishonest contractors who <br /> 13 may provide unsafe or unstable or short - lived <br /> ® <br /> 14 products or services that is a public safety <br /> 15 issue , so the purpose of this ordinance is to <br /> 16 require that all building contractors performing <br /> 17 work in the city of Sunny Isles Beach register <br /> 18 with the City and provide information to the city <br /> 19 related to insurance competency and occupational <br /> 20 licenses . <br /> 21 Fees will be collected in the amount of $ 50 <br /> 22 for this registration and will hopefully be some <br /> 23 protection for the residents of our City against <br /> 24 unlicensed , uninsured , uncertified contractors . <br /> 25 MAYOR SAMSON : Thank you , Madam Attorney .
