• <br /> 11. DISCUSSION ITEMS: <br /> A. APPOINTMENT OF DEPARTMENT HEAD (BUILDING OFFICIAL). <br /> ACTION: City Manager DiPietro introduced Michael S. Berkman, the City's Building <br /> Official. <br /> B. During agenda item 10-B, City Manager DiPietro reported that in negotiations with <br /> Miami-Dade County for agreement on storm water run-off, the issue of keeping litter <br /> out of the water run-off might result in our City receiving money from the County. <br /> C. Mayor Samson recognized John Shepard, John Campbell, and Don Stewart for their <br /> volunteer assistance to our City. <br /> D. Mayor Samson showed our new City flag which combines the City seal with the City <br /> slogan on a white flag with gold fringe. <br /> E. Mayor Samson introduced the City staff, including Zoning Code Administrator Vera, <br /> and Finance Director Neustadt. <br /> F. Mayor Samson addressed Mr. Lemieux regarding beach renourishment and beach <br /> access points, noting that there are seven beach access areas. The Mayor said we <br /> will try get a total of 15 access areas. <br /> G. Mayor Samson announced that there will be a City Commission Public Workshop <br /> meeting on Thursday, March 19, 1998, at 7:00 p.m. to discuss: 1) the standards <br /> and conditions to be applied to zoning application public hearings, 2) definitions and <br /> standards for use and non-use variances, and 3) other zoning issues. <br /> H. Mayor Samson thanked Miami-Dade Police Sergeant Dyson and Miami-Dade Police <br /> for assistance in quickly having a lot cleared of abandoned equipment. <br /> I. Mayor Samson thanked City Manager DiPietro for his assistance in expediting the <br /> demolition of the unsightly Sun City Motel. <br /> J.
