Barry University selected Emerald Construction Corp.
to provide CM @ Risk services to College of Nursing
Wiegand Science Building which included interior/
exterior demolition and removal of asbestos containing
materials. New Design and Rehabilitation was approved
for second phase demolition and construction. Once the
materials were removed the spaces were re-finished for
immediate use.
The scope also included replacing the existing window
mounted A/C units and install a complete new split-
unit system. This required cutting, patching, temporary
removal of ceilings, new ductwork, new plumbing drains,
installation of t-stats and controls, and restoration of all
finishes. Work was completed during the off-time when
students were not using the building. Special care had to
be maintained to ensure that all items left in units were
protected as they were not removed from the space.
Barry University - Weigand Hall11300 NE 2nd Avenue, y y gy y
Miami Shores, FL 33161
FIRM’S RESPONSIBILITY ON THE PROJECTCM @ RIsk Rehabilitation & Renovation
PROJECTS OWNER’SREPRESENTATIVEJeff YaoConstruction ManagerBarry University
11300 NE 2nd Avenue, y yy y
Miami Shores, FL 33161 Phone: 305-899-3995Fax: 305.899.3058E-mail:jyao@barry.edu
PROJECT ARCHITECTSRS ArchitectureMerill Romanik, AIA1800 Eller DriveFort Lauderdale, FL 33316Phone: 954.961-6806Fax: 954.961.6807mromanik@synalovski.com
PROJECT DURATION START/FINISHNovember 2012/August 2013
SIZE OF PROJECT32,000 sq-ft
COST OF PROJECT$1,332,000.00
KEY PREOFSSIONALS INVOLVEDGilda Pereda, Project Executive
F.
