F. RELATED EXPERIENCE
This new 49,970 sf police station and 25,000 sf. parking
garage is mostly steel and masonry construction with
multiple large curtain walls. Some of the main finishes
include burnished block, plaster and drywall, acoustical
and security ceilings, tile carpeting, and resilient, sports,
and terrazzo flooring. Main features of this facility include
the state of the art security system and site security
bollards, precast panels at the parking garage to
withstand vehicular impacts, bullet resistant glazing on
window/door openings, detention cells/equipment, and
150’ communications tower.
The police station also includes a state of the art
building management system which monitors the
building activities including door position switches, room
occupancy sensors, and monitoring the MEP systems
and equipment. To reduce and/or eliminate damage in
case of use, an Inergen fire protection system and smoke
detectors were installed in the telecommunications
room, video arraignment room, and roll call room. This
project received LEED Gold Certification and includes
a green roof, motion detection light switches, lockers
for the locker room from a manufacturer in the vicinity,
window glazing with highly reflective material, and other
sustainable initiatives.
NAME AND LOCATION OF PROJECT
New 9th District Police Station &Parking Structure Public Building
Commission, Chicago, IL
SIZE OF PROJECT25,000 SF
CLIENTS CONTACT INFORMATION
Public Building CommissionJim Gallagher
312-744-3090 jim.gallagher@cityofchicago.org
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This new 49,970 sf police station and25,000 sf. parking garage is mostly
steel and masonry construction with multiple large curtain walls
CONTRACT TERM
5/07/2007- 11/21/2008
FIRM’S RESPONSIBILITY ON THE PROJECT
New Construction
RESULTS OF PROJECTComplete & Occupied
COST OF PROJECT
$22,699,006
