Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting July 16,2015 City of Sunny Islcs Beach.Florida Mayor Scholl said on the focus of Outreach. in Northeast Dade County one of the things we realized is if we have a disaster here, we have to get off of our island and,go to Aventura or North Miami Beach, and they have to get west as well and everybody has to be well coordinated. We pulled together the Northeast Dade Mayors and hosted la meeting here a couple of weeks ago. We got the Dade County Department of Emergency Management to come in, all the key Emergency Management officials including the Director of the National Weather Service. They gave us a lot of information and they have a very good infrastructure, a lot of planning but it also helped us with our neighboring cities to understand what our coordination efforts looks like. Law enforcement islon this and we are going to continue that. For the next meeting we have in September, we fare going to bring FDOT in to talk about traffic and signalization coordination between our cities because a lot of times we make these efforts within one municipality but the fact is that we are all attached at the hip by the road system. Mayor Scholl said that we have also been working with the County to move the Skate Park to Haulover Park. The good news is that the County is willing to give us some land at Haulover Park. The additional good news is that it looks like some Oil our neighboring communities might pitch in as well because they realize it would be a community asset for everybody. We never wanted to close the Skate Park because it is hard enough to find things for teenagers to do but it has cost Vice Mayor Gatto a lot of consternation and so he applauds her tenacity because he thinks it is finally paying off. Hopefully in the next month or two they will have an announcement about it and the design to move the Skate Park. Mayor Scholl announced that County Mayor Carlos Gimenez is sponsoring a Pet Workshop on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Port of Miami Terminal "J" and all the neighboring cities are involved. Mayor Scholl said he will make sure that there is something on our website about it as well. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3A. Regular City Commission Meeting—June 18, 2015. Action: Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the above mentioned Summary Minutes. The motion was approved by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. 4. ORDER OF BUSINESS (Additions/Deletions/Amendments) 4A. Request to Hear Items: Additional Information: Item 6B. Site Plan for Publix; Add-On Item 10J. Support the Creation of the South Florida Mayor's Beach Alliance. Action: Mayor Scholl noted the above changes. Commissioner Aelion moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to approve the above changes to the agenda.The motion was approved by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor.
