RESOLUTION NO. 2015- Z,t1 to I <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO <br /> PARTICIPATE IN "THE PRESTIGE EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL <br /> EVENTS ON THE BISCAYNE BAY CAMPUS SERIES 2015-2016"; <br /> AUTHORIZING A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE BISCAYNE <br /> BAY CAMPUS OF FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY (FIU), IN <br /> THE AMOUNT OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00); <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS <br /> NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION: PROVIDING <br /> FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach is committed in participating and informing <br /> its residents of educational and cultural events and activities taking place iri and around our <br /> community; and <br /> WHEREAS, in partnership with Florida International University (FIU), the Prestige <br /> Educational and Cultural Events Series features events in collaboration with Academic and <br /> Student Programming on the Biscayne Bay Campus in partnership with the City of Sunny Isles <br /> Beach, BalyHarbour Village. the Town of Golden Beach. area businesses, and individual <br /> sponsors provides educational and culturally rich events for the community, at an affordable <br /> price; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Prestige Educational and Cultural Events Series will include at least <br /> twelve (12) events including specialty dining and wine tasting events, lectures by renowned <br /> experts in their respective fields, a Fine Arts Gallery opening in the Hubert Library, Performing <br /> Arts including music, theater and film, a Shakespeare touring exhibit, and many more; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to partner with FIU as a sponsor to present <br /> "The Prestige Educational and Cultural Events on Biscayne Bay Campus Series 2015-2016" in <br /> the donation amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) for educational and culturally rich <br /> events for the community. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION <br /> OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: , <br /> Section 1. Approval of Partnership. The City Commission hereby approves the partnership <br /> between the City and Florida International University (FIU). <br /> Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Commission directs the City Manager to do <br /> all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution, which includes but is not limited to donating <br /> Five Thousand Dollars (56.000.00) to Biscayne Bay Campus of FIU for "The Prestige <br /> Educational and Cultural Events on Biscayne Bay Campus Series 2015-2016". <br /> R2015-Contribution to FIU Prestige Cultural Series <br />
