Announcement by Chairperson Joe Masters of Appointment of Cassey Gabor as Vice <br /> Chairperson of the Historic Preservation Board. <br /> Action: Chairperson Masters announced that Cassey Gabor was appointed Vice Chairperson by <br /> Mayor Edelcup on June 19, 2008. <br /> 3. Approval of Minutes for the April 15, 2008 Historic Preservation Board Meeting: <br /> Action: Phillip Chernoff noted a correction at the top of page 4, first paragraph, last sentence, <br /> "Phillip Chernoff suggested housinQ putting the memorabilia in Heritage Park." <br /> Philip Chernoff moved and Shari Blank seconded a motion to approve the April 15, 2008 <br /> Board meeting summary minutes, as amended. The motion was approved by a 6-0-1 <br /> (Bonita Shoki absent) vote. <br /> 4. Update/Report of City Manager A. John Szerlag on the Reconstruction and Design of the <br /> Sunny Isles Beach/Newport Pier. <br /> Action: City Manager A. John Szerlag reported on the status of the Pier, and handed out an <br /> email/status report on the project from the City's Consultant Edwin Mojena of Marlin <br /> Engineering,and presented a rendering of the project. He said a construction bid package will be <br /> prepared in December 2008, the design finished by the end of this year, and in January 2009 <br /> advertise to go out to bid for construction of the Pier. Hopefully the award of the Contract and <br /> Notice to Proceed will be done by June 2009, with construction completed by June 2010. <br /> 5. Report of City Historian Richard C. Schulman on the Installation of the Driftwood Pelican in <br /> Pelican Community Park. <br /> Action: City Historian Schulman reported that the Driftwood Pelican is now mounted on the <br /> north side of the Pelican Community Park Gymnasium. <br /> Summary Minutes: 2008-0812 HPB Mtg Page 1 of 2 <br />
