Summa ,Minutes: Reeular City Commission hfeetins September 17, 2015
City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida
because it is too low for that playground and so it requires an additional roof be made and
attached and raised. The fabric came down because of the storm but it was in terrible
condition and so it didn't go back up. We went ahead and had them take down the frame
structure so they can work on it remotely and bring it back. Mayor Scholl asked when that
will be done. and Capital Projects Manager Elka Linton - Dorsett said we don't have a
timeframe on that yet. A large component of that will be the finish, the type of paint they use
will determine the timeframe but it will take a few weeks to complete that.
Ms. Mathews said in Town Center Park on the north end of the circle of the roadway, it is
never used and nobody ever goes back there. Children are not allowed to ride their bicycles
or their scooters, and she is not talking about the kids who are school aged, she is talking
about the under five years old set. Every time there is a tricycle or tiny scooter there,
personnel come running and say you are not allowed to use this area. There is nobody in the
Park, and it is not okay. In that whole northern section you should have a sign that says you
can ride your bike or scooters in this area at different times of the day when it is not so
crowded with school children. Mayor Scholl asked Ms. Simpson to look at it.
Ms. Mathews said the last thing is. we really need to fill the soap dispenser in Government
Center. Commissioner Aelion said that they actually fill it up every morning but
unfortunately when people come in from outside on a daily basis they abuse it and empty it
within the hour or two. It is a problem.
13B. Alex Kushnir said he is a resident at Winston Towers, and before the election you all come
and see the people, and then after the election, he does not see any town meetings. He
doesn't see any politicians to come and to talk to the people on what is going on. We need a
compliance committee in this City, it is accountability. It is a matter of squelch. He is
complaining about all the permits needed here. For eight years he has been asking for a
tennis center, and no one does anything about it. If you see a violation you need to stop it
and a compliance committee is the way to go. Mayor Scholl noted that he has an
appointment with Mr. Kushnir next week.
14. ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Levin moved and Vice Mayor Gatto seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting.
and Mayor Scholl adjourned it at 8:16 p.m.
Respectfully submitted by:
:.1
Jane A. Hines, MMG.- Gitv-C-lerk'
Approved/6y the City Commission on Oct. 15, 2015
George
1W
, Mayor
