The motion was approved by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor. <br /> 11. DISCUSSION ITEMS: <br /> 11A. ANNUAL JAZZ FESTIVAL ON THE BEACH SPONSORED BY THE CITY OF SUNNY <br /> ISLES BEACH. <br /> ACTION: City Clerk Brown-Morilla read the title and City Commissioner Iglesias explained <br /> his recommendation to host an annual jazz festival. <br /> Mayor Samson wanted to know the cost to the City, and Commissioner Iglesias said that <br /> perhaps corporate sponsors and grant money could pay some of the expenses. Mayor <br /> Samson asked that the proposal be refined and then brought back for discussion. <br /> Vice Mayor Morrow said the Fashion, Film, Entertainment and Production Council had <br /> discussed the proposal without knowing the details. She said the Council members were in <br /> favor of it, and she suggested that the proposal come before the Council. Commissioner <br /> Kauffinan asked where the public could park,and she suggested the park on North Bay Road <br /> might be a venue, but he said he was thinking more of a beachside concert. <br /> Public Speakers: Kathleen Kennedy; Bill Lone <br /> No decision was made. <br /> 11B STATUS OF COMPREHENSIVE PLAN. <br /> ACTION: City Clerk Brown-Morilla read the title and in response to the request of Vice <br /> Mayor Morrow, Marla Dumas presented an udate. <br /> 11C ADD-ON ITEM Mayor Samson said that the cost of the proposed new city hall/govetnment <br /> center was$15,000,000,but additional costs related to water drainage problems increase the <br /> total project cost. He asked the City Manager to schedule two informal "town hall <br /> meetings," saying he wanted to hear from the citizens as to what they want included in the <br /> project. <br /> Vice Mayor Morrow moved and Commissioner Iglesias seconded a motion to hold public <br /> hearings to hear from the community.
