Special City Commission Meeting Summary Minutes September 12,2001 Sunny Isles Beach,Florida <br /> 3. RESOLUTIONS <br /> 3A. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, Accepting <br /> the Results of the General Election Which Was Held On Tuesday,September 11,2001,and <br /> Declaring For Residential Area Commissioner—Seat 2 Gerald "Gerry" Goodman the <br /> Winner, and For At-Large Commissioner—Seat 4 Norman S.Edelcup the Winner,and <br /> Declaring Both Elected As City Commissioners; Discharging the Canvassing Board For <br /> Said General Election; and Providing For An Effective Date. <br /> Action: [City Clerk's note: Two(2) Certificates of the Canvassing Board were distributed at <br /> the meeting, (one dated September 11, 2001; and a final one* dated September 12, 2001, <br /> based on the hand count that was performed immediately prior to this Commission meeting] <br /> City Clerk Brown-Morilla read the title and reported that the Canvassing Board had just <br /> completed a hand-recount in the Residential Area Commissioner—Seat 2 race and had issued <br /> a final Certification of the results of the election. <br /> *The official results of the General Election voting were: <br /> For RESIDENTIAL AREA COMMISSIONER — SEAT 2,the whole number of votes cast <br /> was 1,020 of which number: <br /> GERALD "GERRY" GOODMAN received 513 votes <br /> IRVING TURETSKY received 507 votes <br /> For AT-LARGE COMMISSIONER — SEAT 4, the whole number of votes cast was 1.039 of <br /> which number: <br /> NORMAN S. EDELCUP received 642 votes <br /> CONNIE MORROW received 397 votes <br /> City Clerk Brown-Morilla, as Chairperson of the Canvassing Board asked the City <br /> Commission to approve the resolution, accepting the results of the General Election and <br /> discharging the Canvassing Board. <br /> Vice Mayor Kauffman moved and Commissioner Turetsky seconded a motion to approve <br /> the resolution. Resolution No. 2001-357 was adopted by a voice vote of 4-0-1 in favor. <br /> (Commissioner Iglesias absent) <br /> City Clerk Brown-Morilla thanked Commissioners Morrow and Turetsky for their service. <br /> The City Clerk then administered the Oath of Office to the New Officers and congratulated <br /> them: <br /> Mayor David Samson <br /> City Commissioner Gerry Goodman <br /> City Commissioner Norman S. Edelcup <br /> Commissioner Goodman and Commissioner Edelcup then took their seats on the dais. <br /> Mayor Samson read a statement and expressed his sense of honor at being automatically re- <br /> elected.
