SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />PLAYGROUND PROTECTIVE SURFACING 02791 - 3 <br />packed in suitable bags to protect SBR from moisture. <br /> <br />Base Mat- A combination of post consumer, non-tire shredded rubber with various sizings. The Base <br />Mat shall be granular in appearance and provide for a flat base for the Vitriturf V-10 Wearing Course. <br /> <br />D. VITRITURF V-10 EPDM Rubber: A man-made rubber containing minimum of 30% EPDM and <br />having a density of 1.5-0.05. <br /> <br />1. Is available in assorted colors and available in three sizes: 1-3mm, 0.5-1.5mm and 0.40-08mm <br />(dust). A predetermined combination of sizes from Hanover Specialities Inc. will ensure proper <br />wearing course to meet the requirements for issuance of TEN Year Warranty. <br /> <br />E. MIXING AND PREPARATION: A. Mixture of binder/EPDM or binder/SBR will be determined by <br />the system which is specified. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.01 <br /> <br />PREPARATION: <br />A. Prepare substrates to receive surfacing products according to protective surfacing manufacturer's <br />written instructions. <br />1. Repair: Fill holes and depressions in unsatisfactory surfaces with leveling and patching material. <br />2. Terminal Edges: Saw cut concrete for terminal edges of protective surfacing. <br />3. Prior to application of VITRITURF System the Substrates shall be examined for compliance with <br />the contract documents of VITRITURF specifications. The General Contractor and Architect shall <br />be advised of all discrepancies. Work shall not proceed until unsatisfactory conditions are <br />corrected. <br />3.02 <br /> <br />INSTALLATION OF SEAMLESS SURFACING: <br />B. Mix and apply components of seamless surfacing according to manufacturer's written instructions to <br />produce uniform, monolithic, and impact-attenuating protective surfacing of required overall thickness. <br /> <br />C. VITRITURF Playground System <br />1. VITRITURF Primer Apply primer with a short nap roller at a rate of 300 sq. ft. per gallon. <br />2. VITRITURF SBR Base Mat a. Mix SBR to VITRITURF Binder in a ratio of 82/18 and spread <br />evenly at specified thickness. Compact and allow to dry for 24 hours. <br />3. VITRITURF Primer Apply VITRITURF Primer at the rate of 300 so. ft. per gallon. <br />4. VITRITURF V-10 Wearing Course <br /> a. Mix EPDM to VITRITURF Binder in a ratio of 82/18 <br /> b. Apply with a steel trowel <br /> 1. For compacting: Lubricate trowel with diesel fuel or soapy water. <br /> 2. For finishing: Spray a light mist of water on surface and trowel smooth. <br /> Apply at a minimum of 1” <br /> <br />3.4 <br /> <br />FIELD QUALITY CONTROL: <br />A. Retain "Testing Agency" Paragraph below to identify who shall perform tests. If retaining second <br />option below, retain "Field quality-control reports" Paragraph in "Informational Submittals" Article.
