General: Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of Contract and Division I
Specification Sections.

B. Product data for each different masonry unit, accessory, reinforcement, and other manufactured
products including certification that each type complies with specified requirements, including fire
rating.

C. Shop Drawings for reinforcing detailing, fabrication, bending, and placement of unit masonry
reinforcing bars. Comply with ACI 315 "Details and Detailing of Concrete Reinforcing" showing
bar schedules, stirrup spacing, diagrams of bent bars, and arrangement of masonry reinforcement.

D. Samples for verification purposes of the following:
1. Submit two (2) full-size units for each different exposed masonry unit required showing
full range of exposed color, texture, and dimensions to be expected in completed
construction.

E. Certificates: Submit manufacturer's certificates indicating full compliance with these
Specifications.

1.06

QUALITY ASSURANCE:
A. Fire Performance Characteristics: Where indicated, provide materials and construction identical to
those of assemblies whose fire resistance has been determined per ASTM E 119 by a testing and
inspecting organization, by equivalent concrete masonry thickness, or by other means acceptable
to authorities having jurisdiction.

B. Single-Source Responsibility for Masonry Units: Obtain exposed masonry units of uniform texture
and color, or a uniform blend within ranges accepted for these characteristics, from one
manufacturer for each different product required for each continuous surface or visually related
surfaces.

C. Masonry Construction shall conform to ACI 530.1 Specification and requirements of the National
Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA).

D. Field-Constructed Mock-Ups: At least 60 days prior to installation of unit masonry, erect sample
wall panels representative of completed unit masonry work required for the project with respect to
qualities of appearance, materials and construction. Erect panels using coursing and tooling of
joints shown or specified. Obtain Architect acceptance of mock-up wall panel prior to beginning
work.
1. Build mock-ups for the following types of masonry in sizes of approximately 4 ft (1.2 m)
long by 4 ft (1.2 m) high by full thickness, including face and backup wythes as well as
accessories.
a. Each exterior type with substrate
b. Each interior type with substrate
2. Notify Architect one week in advance of the dates and times when mock-ups will be
erected.
3. Protect mock-ups from the elements with weather-resistant membrane
4. Retain and maintain mock-ups during construction in undisturbed condition as standard
for judging completed unit masonry construction. When directed by Architect, demolish
and remove mock-ups from Project site.
5. No work shall be started on the building walls until the Owner and Architect have
approved sample wall.
