SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />UNIT MASONRY 040500-4 <br />materials to prevent wetting and freezing using auxiliary heat <br />of insulated blankets for 24 hours after construction. <br />d. 25°F -20°F: Heat mixing water and sand to produce mortar <br />between 40°F -100°F. Maintain mortar above freezing. <br />Enclose work area and provide heat, sources on both sides of <br />walls under construction. Completely cover walls and <br />materials to prevent wetting and freezing using auxiliary heat <br />or insulated blankets for 48 hours after construction. <br />e. 20°F and Below: Heat mixing water and sand to produce <br />mortar between 40°F -100°F . Heat masonry units to 40°F <br />minimum. Use heat sources on both sides of walls under <br />construction. Provide enclosure and heat to maintain <br />temperatures above 32°F within enclosure. Maintain <br />temperatures above 32°F within the enclosure for 48 hours <br />after construction. <br /> <br />E. Hot- Weather Construction (Refer to applicable Section of the Code): <br />1. Perform the following construction procedures while masonry work is progressing within <br /> the temperature ranges listed below. <br />a. 100°F -40°F: Normal masonry procedures. Cover walls with plastic or canvas at end of work day. <br />b. Above 100°F or 90°F with 8 mph or greater wind velocity: Maintain mortar temperature between 70°F -100°F. Limit spread of mortar bed to 4 ft, and place units within one minute of spreading mortar. Fog spray and/or cover with plastic or canvas partially or newly completed walls to prevent moisture evaporation. <br />PART 2 -PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.01 MA TERIALS, GENERAL: <br /> <br /> <br />A. Comply with referenced unit masonry standard and other requirements specified in this Section as <br />applicable to each material indicated. <br />1. Masonry construction shall conform to ACI 530. 1 specification, latest edition <br />2. Masonry unit strength (Pm) shall be 1500 psi at 28 days <br /> <br />2.02 CONCRETE MASONRY UNITS: <br /> <br /> <br />A. General: Comply with requirements indicated below as applicable to each form of concrete <br />masonry unit required. <br />1. Provide special shapes where required for lintels, comers, jambs, sash, control joints, <br /> headers, bonding, and other special conditions. <br />2. Provide square-edged units for outside comers, except where indicated <br /> <br />B. Hollow Load-Bearing Concrete Masonry Units: ASTM C 90, Grade N and as follows. <br />1. Size: Manufacturer's standard units with nominal face dimensions of 16 inches long by 8 <br /> inches high (15-5/8" x 7-5/8" actual) by thickness indicated. <br />2. Weight Classification: As listed to receive UL rating of 2-hour minimum, 4-hour <br /> maximum. <br />3. Exposed Faces: Manufacturer's standard color and texture, unless otherwise indicated. <br /> <br />C. Hollow Non-Load Bearing Concrete Masonry Units: ASTM C 120, Grade N and as follows: <br />3. Size: Manufacturer's standard units with nominal face dimensions of 16 inches long by 8 <br /> inches high 15-5/8" x 7-5/8" actual) by thickness indicated. <br />4. Weight Classification: As listed to receive UL rating of 2-hour minimum, 4-hour
