SAMSON OCEANFRONT PARK <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES <br />TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS <br />PLAYGROUND PROTECTIVE SURFACING 02791 - 1 <br />SECTION 02791 - PLAYGROUND PROTECTIVE SURFACING <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br />A. Section Includes: <br />1. Unitary, seamless playground protective surfacing. <br /> <br />1.02 <br /> <br />DEFINITIONS: <br />A. Retain terms that remain after this Section has been edited for a project. <br /> <br />B. Critical Height: Standard measure of shock attenuation according to ASTM F 2223; same as "critical <br />fall height" in ASTM F 1292 <br /> <br />C. Unitary Surfacing: A protective surfacing of one or more material components bound together to form <br />a continuous surface; same as "unitary system" in ASTM F 2223. <br /> <br />1.03 <br /> <br />ACTION SUBMITTALS: <br />A. Product Data: For each type of product. <br />B. Shop Drawings: For each type of protective surfacing. <br />1. Include plans, sections, placement and penetration details, and attachment to substrates. <br />2. Include accessories and edge terminations. <br />3. Include patterns made by varying colors of surfacing. <br />4. Include fall heights and use zones for equipment and structures specified in Section 02881 "Play <br />Field Equipment and Structures," coordinated with the critical heights for protective surfacing. <br /> <br />C. Samples: For each exposed product and for each color and texture specified, provide a 6” x6” sample <br />of the protective surfacing system. <br /> <br />1.04 <br /> <br />INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS: <br />A. Material certificates. <br /> <br />B. Product certificates. <br /> <br />C. Field quality-control reports. <br /> <br />D. Sample warranty. <br /> <br />1.05 <br /> <br />CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS: <br />A. Maintenance data. <br /> <br />1.06 <br /> <br />QUALITY ASSURANCE: <br />A. Retain "Installer Qualifications" Paragraph below if unitary, seamless protective surfacing is required. <br /> <br />B. Installer Qualifications: The installer of the surfacing shall be trained and registered by Vitriturf. <br /> <br />C. The protective surfacing shall be installed over a concrete surface as per plans and details.
