<br />01730 - 1/3 <br />SECTION 01730 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE INFORMATION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.01 SCOPE: Operation and maintenance (O&M) instructions shall be provided in accordance <br />with this section and as required in the technical sections of this project manual. O&M <br />information shall be provided for each maintainable piece of equipment, equipment <br />assembly or subassembly, and material provided or modified under this contract. <br />A. O&M instructions must be submitted and accepted before on-site training may start. <br />1.02 TYPES OF INFORMATION REQUIRED: <br />A. General: O&M information shall contain the names, addresses, and telephone <br />numbers of the manufacturer, the nearest representative of the manufacturer, and <br />the nearest supplier of the manufacturer's equipment and parts. See SECTION <br />01300 for details on how to prepare and submit this data. In addition, one or more of <br />the following items of information shall be provided as applicable. <br />B. Operating Instructions: Specific instructions, procedures, and illustrations shall be <br />provided for the following phases of operations: <br />1. Safety Precautions: List personnel hazards for equipment and list safety <br />precautions for all operating conditions. <br />2. Operator Prestart: Provide requirements to set up and prepare each system <br />for use. <br />3. Start-Up, Shutdown, and Post Shutdown Procedures: Provide a control <br />sequence for each of these operations. <br />4. Normal Operations: Provide control diagrams with data to explain operation <br />and control of systems and specific equipment. <br />5. Emergency Operations: Provide emergency procedures for equipment <br />malfunctions to permit a short period of continued operation or to shut down <br />the equipment to prevent further damage to systems and equipment. Include <br />emergency shutdown instructions for fire, explosion, spills, or other foreseeable <br />contingencies. Provide guidance on emergency operations of all utility <br />systems including valve locations and portions of systems controlled. <br />6. Operator Service Requirements: Provide instructions for services to be <br />performed by the operator such as lubrication, adjustments and inspection. <br />7. Environmental Conditions: Provide a list of environmental conditions <br />(temperature, humidity, and other relevant data) which are best suited for each <br />product or each piece of equipment and describe conditions under which <br />equipment should not be allowed to run. <br />C. Preventive Maintenance: The following information shall be provided for preventive <br />and scheduled maintenance and repair: <br />1. Lubrication Data: Provide lubrication data, other than instructions for <br />lubrication in accordance with paragraph 2.B.6. <br />a. A table showing recommended lubricants for specific temperature ranges <br />and applications; <br />b. Charts with a schematic diagram of the equipment showing lubrication <br />points, recommended types and grades of lubricants, and capacities; and
