Redesign included the • removal of existing asphalt roadways and driveways,the substantial grading of the base material to • provide sufficient slopes to accommodate a new storm drainage system, widening of travel lanes to 10 feet each way, providing a common drainage swale for the new pavement and landscaped • area (15 feet wide), regrading of the landscaped area to drain toward the roadway without • disturbing existing trees and paving marking and signoge. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department (MDFRD) Fire Station Design/Build Contracts. Homestead, • Florida - Lead Project Engineer working on two (2) simultaneous design-build site development • projects; the MDFRD Projects are: Village of Homestead Fire Station (No. 66) and East Homestead • Fire Station (No. 65). Mr. Young provided civil design, project coordination between contractor, • architect and other engineering disciplines, as well as provided client assistance with permitting within Miami-Dade County. • • Parrot Jungle Island Artificial Wetlands. Watson Island. Florida - Managed civil engineering for the • development of an artificial wetland at the heart of the Miami area tropical wildlife tourist attraction. Parrot Jungle Island.The 18-acre Parrot Jungle facility is home to thousands of tropical birds such as • yellow Amazon parrots and pink flamingos,crocodiles,snakes and orangutans and more than 2,000 • varieties of plants and flowers.The artificial wetland mimics on Everglades environment. Managed • the water, sewer, storm drainage and grade development master planning to create the artificial • wetlands and provided all environmental permitting. • Williams Island Seawall Rehabilitation. Aventura, Florida-Project Manager and Engineer of Record • for the addition of a new steel-piling seawall that retained the existing concrete pile/panel seawall • and tied the two walls together with a new concrete cop. • Fisher Island Northern Seawall Rehabilitation, Miami. Florida - Project Manager and Engineer of • Record for the addition of a sheet-piling toe-wall waterward of an existing concrete pile/panel • seawall. This design prevented undermining of material beneath the existing panels, therefore • preventing soil settlement landward of the seawall. • Port of Miami Cruise Terminals D & E, Miami, Florida - Senior Civil Engineer. Repairs, upgrades and • new construction for Cruise Terminals 'D' and 'E'. This project is a fast track project.
