This project consists of demolishing the existing +10,000 square foot fishing <br /> pier and installation of a new pier supported by more than 60 reinforced concrete piles within <br /> the footprint of the non-serviceable pier. <br /> Atkins was selected for this project based on their experience in dealing with marine related <br /> projects as well as their extensive knowledge in coastal permitting with the State and Federal <br /> regulatory agencies. They have performed exceptionally well in providing their contractual <br /> services and have also gone the extra mile. <br /> Project highlights include: <br /> • Detailed design involving structural, civil, plumbing, electrical, landscape, and <br /> architectural components, all of which Atkins conducted in-house. <br /> • Meeting an aggressive design and permitting approval schedule <br /> • Applying and obtaining permits with City, County, State, and Federal agencies <br /> • Holding public meetings for nearby residents <br /> • Serving as advisor to the City during selection of the Construction Management firm <br /> Our project required a single firm that carried the experience and manpower to meet the <br /> critical deadlines and design of a pier that would meet the expectations of the residents of <br /> Miami Beach. I am pleased to say that Atkins has met the goals identified by City staff and <br /> their project team has provided a design that the City of Miami Beach can be proud of. <br /> Victor Herrera, PE has worked diligently on this project from the inception of the project, from <br /> planning through the permitting of several jurisdictional agencies. He has been instrumental <br /> in keeping the project on schedule and getting the permits approved. <br /> We are very pleased with Atkins and are excited to see our project under construction in the <br /> Fall of 2012.
