Mr. Alonso served as the principal <br /> Principal-in-Charge representative for the agency with elected and government officials, and media and community <br /> leaders in Broward County. He represented the District's interests and advocated for the <br /> Professional Affiliations agency's water resource decisions in the service area. <br /> (coni) Manager— Facilities Projects, School Board of Broward County, Facilities and <br /> Development—Division Construction Management Department (1987-1997). Mr. Alonso was responsible for <br /> II; Oversight of six managing the planning, design, and construction of capital projects for 23 assigned facilities <br /> I committees: Health Care, schools, administrative centers, and vehicle maintenance and storage facilities. Project <br /> Real Estate, Military types included new construction, renovations, remodeling, additions, and phased replacement. <br /> Affairs, Transportation Project budgets ranged from less than $10,000 to more than $22 million. By 1997, the total <br /> I and Infrastructure, <br /> Education, New World capital budgets he managed exceeded $185 million with average project budgets in the $6 <br /> million range. He used consultants extensively and employed collaborative project development <br /> Center(Downtown Miami); strategies with widespread input from parents and academic and technical staff, thereby <br /> and Transportation and minimizing project conflicts and delays. In 1996, Mr. Alonso served on the Superintendent's <br /> I Infrastructure Committee— <br /> immediate past Chair Departmental Policies and Procedures Committee. <br /> His major responsibilities as manager of facilities projects included: analyzed and prepared <br /> University of Miami School each facility's yearly and long-term capital improvement plan; supervised project accounts <br /> I of Engineering—Industry <br /> Advisory Board (IAB) and adjusted project capital budgets; established and updated project schedules; <br /> reviewed consultant documents for conformance to budget, state regulations, program <br /> Florida International standards, completeness, and accuracy; attended bid openings, evaluated bids, and made <br /> I University—Advisory recommendations for award of contract; and reviewed and recommended approval <br /> Council for Engineering of requisitions for payment from contractors and consultants, as well as prepared and <br /> (ACE) recommended change orders to contracts. <br /> Miami-Dade County Public District Coordinator for Technology Projects, Concurrent with Project Management <br /> I Schools— Blue Ribbon Duties(1994-1996). Mr. Alonso was involved in the planning and implementation of the <br /> Committee on Workforce District's technology plan at a districtwide level (200+ schools and centers). <br /> Housing For the Department of Education (DOE) Retrofit for Technology Grants(RFT), he was responsible <br /> I Bay of Pigs Museum and <br /> Library Board— Board for planning, directing, coordinating, and supervising the design, bidding, and construction of <br /> 19 RFT grants. He also developed procedures for budgeting, design, review, approval, bidding, <br /> Member(current) and award recommendation of the projects; and coordinated planning, budgeting, and <br /> IMiami-Roads Neighborhood scheduling with the engineering consultant, eight project managers, construction supervisors, <br /> Civic Association, 2000- school administrators, and related departments. The projects were delivered within DOE grant <br /> 2006 standards for design, funding constraints, and completion timelines. <br /> IBiscayne Bay Regional For the Departmental Technology and Local Area Network(LAN)Implementation Team, Mr. <br /> Restoration Coordination Alonso was a founding member of a multidisciplinary committee organized to research, discuss, <br /> Team—Chair, 2002-2005 analyze, and recommend hardware and applications solutions for the department's LAN. <br /> Miami Dade College For the Departmental Policies and Procedures Committee(1997), Mr. Alonso was responsible <br /> I Environmental Advisory for documenting, developing, and recommending and issuing departmental policies and <br /> Board, 2003-2005 procedures. <br /> Miami-Dade County For the Superintendent's Policies and Departmental Procedures Committee(1996), Mr.Alonso <br /> Biscayne Bay Waterfront developed and recommended board policy and departmental procedures. <br /> Development Advisory Architectural Totalis Corporation (1980-1987). Mr. Alonso was a founder and vice president <br /> Committee, 2001-2003 of Architectural Totalis Corporation in Coral Gables, Florida which provided complete planning, <br /> I Florida Atlantic University design, and construction administration services. As a principal of the firm, his duties included <br /> (FAU) Broward Community project design, client development, and overall firm management. The firm specialized in private <br /> Advisory Board, 1998-2002 and commercial development clients.
