Contingency plans were in place to account for
0 potential construction delays. The installation and timing was very successful with no impacts to the
Town.
0
® Design, bidding, and construction phase services were provide by Kimley-Horn. The project was
successfully completed on time and under budget. The pump station has been operating very
0
effectively, operation and maintenance costs have been reduced, and the station has additional
O capacity for future Town growth.
® Force Main Replacement Program. Project design included installation of a C-900 PVC force main,
0 ultrasonic flow meter, connection to master wastewater pump station, and the installation of a check
® valve in close proximity to the receiving force main system located in Miami Beach.
0 This project was required because of the age and condition of the existing force main and previous
® force main failures.
0
A - 11 ..
® I
.
-:rte, I yQ x
. . . . .
0
® Government Cut Force Main Phase 1,Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department,Miami,FL
® This project consisted of a route study and evaluation for a force main to convey wastewater from the City
® of Miami Beach (an island) to the Virginia Key VWdTP (on an island). This required an underwater route.
® KHA developed a list of 12 alternative routes, and narrowed the list down to 3 viable alternatives. One route
® required use of the Port of Miami as a landing point, another route required using Fischer Island as a landing
point, and the last route was a completely underwater route. Each route presented challenges, including
® disruption of Port activities, disruption of extremely wealthy neighborhoods and the acquisition of necessary
® easements, and the use of numerous caissons in the Biscayne Bay. A matrix of alternatives was developed
® using 18 weighted factors under consideration. Ultimately, a route was selected which required approximately
2 miles of 32-inch diameter directionally-drilled force main. Geotechnical considerations were extremely
0 important, and extensive soil borings 200-feet deep were required.
0
0
0
0
® P20 No.12-O--02 r Kimley-Horn
0Y260015 12o Sena/Isles Cnel-En wonmental Eng tried `=r 1 and Associates,Inc,
O 2-20
