The project will require an aerial crossing of the Oleta River, and coordination with FDEP for
• proposed impacts to State Wetlands.
® Water Main Route Evaluation Report, West Palm Beach,FL
o As a result of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) relocating the Flagler Memorial Bridge, the
City of West Palm Beach was required to relocate an existing subaqueous 24-inch water main that conflicted
o with the new bridge location. To implement the most beneficial relocation route for the City, we developed a
® water main route evaluation report. The project included evaluating four alternative water main alignments
to cross the Intracoastal Waterway from the City of West Palm Beach to the Town of Palm Beach. The report
0 discussed community impacts, constructability, permit feasibility, and a recommendation to proceed with a
® preferred water main route. Extensive coordination was required with project stakeholders such as the Florida
® Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Army Corp of Engineers (ACOE), Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT), Palm Beach County Health Department (PBCHD), City of West Palm Beach, and the
O Town of Palm Beach to identify requirements, concerns and obtain feedback pertaining to issues that affect
® the permitting, design, construction, schedule, and cost of the proposed project. A primary focus of the
® project was to develop a design and construction schedule that will comply with FDOT's schedule to begin
construction of the new Flagler Memorial Bridge in 2010. The City's existing water main must be relocated
0 before the start of bridge construction. The proposed water main routes included both upland open-cut and
® subaqueous horizontal direction drill segments for all of the approaches. The final water main route evaluation
report summarized stakeholder issues, permit feasibility, project timeframes, preliminary opinions of probable
O cost, and included a recommendation to proceed with the preferred route. The report also included proposed
® connection points, overall pipe lengths, construction methods, pipe material, and known or potential issues
® and constraints for each route. Based on an approved water main route evaluation report, the project has
moved into the design phase.
® r12 - — is..al Palm
® Force Main System Study,Palm Beach,FL6S3 —i a ,e ....,-....—t=
Kimley-Horn is currently developing a system wide force main X`y N
® model for the Town to evaluate the improvements necessary to A 1t = 13'1,
determine theappropriate force main sizes and station upgrades t‘c.;...: , ` I •
$ necessary to abandon the practice of pumping wastewater through tr - .' ii -
® the City of Lake Worth force main system.
