Varadero
Traffic Study

Page 18
4.4 Project Trip Assignment

Project traffic was distributed and assigned to the study area using the Cardinal Distribution for
TAZ 587 shown in Exhibit 9. The Cardinal Distribution gives a generalized distribution of trips
from a TAZ to other parts of Miami-Dade County. For estimating trip distribution for the project
traffic, consideration was given to conditions such as the roadway network accessed by the project
traffic, roadways available to travel in the desired direction, and attractiveness of traveling on a
specific roadway. The project trip distribution is graphically portrayed in Exhibits 10.

Exhibit 9
Cardinal Distribution (TAZ 587)

Direction Distribution
NNE 7.66%
ENE 4.47%
ESE 0.05%
SSE 1.54%
SSW 3.90%
WSW 24.98%
WNW 32.64%
NNW 24.74%
Total 100.00%
Source: Miami- Dade Long Range Transportation Plan
