BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost) <br /> <br /> <br />Curtis + Rogers was a part of the Master Plan process <br />for the Broward Courthouse Complex. Currently <br />under design is Phase 1 of that Master Plan which <br />involves a new Courthouse Building and Plaza <br />fronting SE 6th Street in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. <br />The Plaza has been designed to function as a public <br />space for large and small civic gatherings, and for the <br />groups that typically gather in front of this institution, <br />including vendors and families with children. Shade <br />is provided by a grove of royal palms on the west side <br />of the walkway that open up and climb a double set of <br />stairs to the Courthouse Plaza. There is a small <br />simple structural space for children to play in and <br />shaded seating for parents. The plaza includes a <br />smaller scale, shaded space to provide refuge from the <br />activity in front of the courthouse which also provides <br />handicap access to the building. This space is <br />focused on a shaded inclined path that wraps around <br />canopy trees as it climbs to the entry plaza, creating <br />an intermediary platform halfway up for seating and <br />gathering for individuals or for a small group. <br /> <br />Size: 400,000.00 sq.ft. <br />Cost: $ 225 Million <br />LEED Under Construction: Silver Rating <br /> <br />25.
