Background and Organizational Structure <br />Background and Organizational Structure <br />Kimley-Horn was founded 49 years ago, in 1967, in Raleigh, <br />North Carolina, by Bob Kimley and Bill Horn. Kimley came <br />out of the NC State Highway Commission and Horn was an <br />engineering professor at North Carolina State University. The <br />expertise of the firm was initially focused on traffic planning and <br />public transportation projects. In the ensuing 49 years, the firm <br />has expanded both geographically and in the variety of planning, <br />engineering, and consulting services that it provides. Today, <br />Kimley-Horn is a full-service, multidisciplinary consulting firm with <br />2,612 employees in 73 offices nationwide offering a full range of <br />consulting services to local, regional, and international clients. In <br />Florida alone, there are 525 employees in 14 offices. Additionally, <br />many of our employees are former municipal engineers and <br />planners; they have been on our clients’ side of the table and are <br />familiar with local governmental procedures.
