APPPENDIX A. EAR-BASED AMENDMENTS <br /> APPLICATION No. 1 <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> COMMUNITY VISION STATEMENT AMENDMENTS <br /> 1. Amend the Comprehensive Plan Community Vision Statement as follows: <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH 200015/201-530 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> A COMMUNITY VISION: <br /> I#—rRepresents a consensus view of residents, property owners, businesses and civic <br /> organizations as to the primary objectives of the plan. These include The Vision calls for <br /> the City to: <br /> Strengthening Enrich the a sense of Community through better integrated and <br /> enhanced services to its residents, visitors, property owners and businesses. By <br /> developing and maintaining improved public safety, increased opportunities to work, <br /> shop, learn and play in the City; accessible and attractive public open space and <br /> recreation facilities;i improved linkages between and among residential areas and local <br /> services, including educational and cultural facilities and neighborhood-serving retail; <br /> venues and programs for diverse and enriching cultural experiences;i improved local <br /> educational facilities ardd _ - - - - - • , - •e - e" - •-- e • - - ••- • to serve <br /> current and future residents;; protection of the public safety, and; other programs, <br /> strategies and services to maintain and enhance quality of life and meet current and future <br /> needs. By providing a financially-stable full service community that addresses the needs <br /> and quality of life of residents, visitors, property owners and businesses, a sense of <br /> community identity and pride ear-will be fostered and sustained. <br /> Protecting and Enhancinge the City's Coastal Resources through improved access, <br /> increased amenities for public use and restoration of natural environmental conditions <br /> along the beaches and shorelines that embrace the community. By preserving vistas and <br /> view corridors to the ocean and bay and creating greenways and shoreline walkways <br /> linking beaches and shores via access corridors to neighborhoods and visitor centers, the <br /> unique waterfront assets that best define the image of the City can be protected and <br /> enriched for all. <br /> hospitality and service industries that form the core of the city's economic base. The City <br /> will seek to enhance the area's economic prosperity and accommodate a reasonable <br /> and livable wage jobs, raising personal incomes, increasing tax revenues and stimulating <br /> businesses, enhancing education and skill building opportunities to maintain <br /> A-1 <br />
