APPLICATION No.7 <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> COASTAL MANAGEMENT ELEMENT AMENDMENTS <br /> • <br /> 1. Amend Objective 2. as follows: <br /> Objective 2 <br /> Protect, conserve of and enhance beaches and dunes and offshore reef communities. <br /> 2. Amend Policy 2E. as follows: <br /> Policy 2E. The City shall continue to coordinate its efforts with Miami-Dade County to <br /> protect its coastal area and shoreline from the establishment of invasive exotic pest plant <br /> species that degrade native coastal vegetation. The City shall support the County's Parks <br /> Department and DERM's efforts relative to exotic pest plant control planning and <br /> programs that include public involvement to restore parkland and other natural areas by <br /> removing invasive exotic plants and reseeding or replanting native species, when <br /> appropriate. <br /> 3. Add a new Policy 2H. as follows: <br /> Policy 2H. The City shall support the investigation of existing and future infrastructure <br /> techniques to mitigate beach erosion. <br /> 4. Amend Policy 4B. as follows: <br /> Policy 4B. No filling, spoiling or placement of structures in or over coastal or estuarine <br /> waters shall be permitted to diminish water surface areas that have been traditionally and <br /> intensively used by the general public for activities such as fishing, swimming and boating, <br /> with the exception of structures integrated into the water in order to address beach <br /> erosion. <br /> 5. Amend Policy 61. as follows: <br /> Policy 61. The City shall coordinate with the MetfoMiami-Dade Transit Agency, and <br /> any hotels that may use buses for evacuation to allocate sufficient transit capacity to <br /> safely evacuate the City's households that do not have autos, or persons otherwise <br /> unable to evacuate by private automobile. <br /> A-33 <br />
