Maas, Police Chief <br /> DATE: 5/19/2016 <br /> Approval to donate up to fifteen (15)surplus Philips <br /> RE: Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's)to a non-profit <br /> organization, the "Jamaicans Abroad Helping Jamaicans <br /> At Home" (JAHJAH) Foundation <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached <br /> resolution authorizing the City Manager to donate up to fifteen (15) <br /> surplus Philips Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's) to a non-profit <br /> organization, the "Jamaicans Abroad Helping Jamaicans At Home" <br /> (JAHJAH) Foundation. <br /> REASONS: <br /> The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department has a surplus supply of <br /> older Automatic External Defibrillators (AED's)that have been taken out <br /> of service and replaced over the past several years as newer <br /> technology developed. The CEO and Founder of "JAHJAH" has <br /> reached out to our City Manager, requesting the donation of any <br /> defibrillators that they can distribute to various facilities throughout <br /> Jamaica. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> The JAHJAH Foundation donates medical supplies and equipment to <br /> public hospitals and healthcare centers in Jamaica. They also share <br /> information and technology with healthcare professionals in Jamaica's <br /> 346 <br />
