We possess extensive <br />experience in hydrographic/topographic surveying for coastal monitoring, <br />renourishment, and post-storm restoration. After Hurricane Sandy, our <br />innovative use of aerial LiDAR and multibeam sonar for coastal mapping won <br />the ACEC/NC Grand Award for Engineering Excellence in Surveying and <br />Mapping Technology. Further, McKim & Creed is recognized as an industry <br />leader in the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS)—“drones”—for mapping <br />purposes. We recently teamed with Esri and 3DR to complete a proof of concept <br />event that tested the feasibility of using UAS to perform coastal surveys. Results <br />demonstrated that, in the right conditions, UAS can outperform conventional <br />services by producing a more detailed digital elevation model (DEM) more <br />quickly and at a lower cost.
