MC.KIM&CREED design and engineering services for Volusia County/FDOT District 5. McKim &
Creed began this project with a research phase in order to sort through the large
number of deeds, leases, and agreements concerning the right-of-way. McKim &
Creed continued with the topographic survey and bathymetric survey of the Halifax
River. Hydrographic survey crews utilized a 10 -foot Zego boat with a 25 horsepower
engine as a platform to the bottom of the Halifax River on a 25 -foot grid. McKim &
Creed prepared a specific purpose survey of the corridor including determining,
setting, and referencing the alignment, along with setting monumentation along the
right-of-way.
Daytona International Speedway Laser Scan, HNTB Corporation, Daytona Beach,
FL: As LiDAR project manager, Mr. Grigsby was responsible for overseeing laser
scanning of Daytona International speedway, including its main line track, pit road
and turn 4 tunnels. Ground truthing points were surveyed using conventional
methods and tied to survey controls. Mobile LIDAR shots were then collected. Main
line track data was collected in three runs from the apron, pit road data was
collected in two runs, and Turn 4 tunnel data was collected in one pass per tunnel.
Still images were then compiled, geometrically corrected and scanned into the
project coordinate system. The scan data was transformed to State Plane Coordinates
to match the track survey control and vertical datum.
Design -Build Services for SR 836 Operational, Capacity and Interchange
Improvements, Odebrecht Construction, Inc., Daytona, FL: McKim & Creed used
mobile collection system, MoDAC, and conventional field GPS collection to quickly
collect a large amount of GIS asset data for the 836/Dolphin Expressway widening
from NW 57th Ave to NW 17th Ave project
FDOT District 1 I-75/SR 9551, Reynolds, Smith and Hills, Inc. (RS&H), Naples, FL:
McKim & Creed provided survey services for the interchange improvements for
both the 1-75 and SR 951 in Collier County. The project consisted of a topographic
survey, control survey map through the design survey limits, and terrestrial mobile
LiDAR.
FDOT District 2, Mobile Scanning Projects, Southeastern Surveying & Mapping
Corporation, Various Locations, FL:FDOT District 2, Mobile LiDAR Data
Collection, Southeastern Surveying & Mapping, Corp., Duval County, FL: McKim
& Creed conducted a mobile LiDAR survey of SR 202/JT13 Bridge and I-295 (SR 9A)
Dames Point Bridge in Duval County for two miles. Utilizing the LiDAR data,
McKim & Creed was able to extract survey break lines for the bridge deck and
barrier walls and create a DTM surface of the roadway. Surface cross slope and
longitudinal slopes were analyzed to identify irregularities and problem areas of the
bridge deck.
FDOT District 5, SR 40 from CR 314 to CR 314A, Kisinger Campo and Associates,
Corporation, Ocala, FL: Mr. Grigsby served as information systems design
application manager for this project which provided design surveying and MODaC®
Mobile Scanning services for this project that entailed the widening and
rehabilitation of SR 40 from east of CR 314 to east of CR 314A in Marion County.
The project consisted of approximately six miles of design survey database.
www.mckimcreed.com
