Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting May 19,2016 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida
10K. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Approving
the License Agreement Between the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Salem House
Condominium Association,Inc. for the Construction of the Emergency Pedestrian Bridge
Connecting North Bay Road Between 172"d and 174th Streets in Substantially the Same
Form, Attached Hereto as Exhibit "A"; Authorizing the City Manager to Execute Said
Agreement;Authorizing the City Attorney and the City Manager to Do All Things Necessary
to Effectuate the Terms of this Resolution; Providing for an Effective Date.
Action:[City Clerk's Note:Items 10K and 1 O were heard together.] City Clerk Hines read
the title, and City Manager Russo reported that this is a furtherance of an easement that we
received from the Salem House. We needed some additional space to be able to house the
crane and to operate on the easement of which we are still having issues with additional
access on the Porto Bellagio property. The Salem House management has been extremely
cooperative with the City and this is tied into the next item on the agenda, 10L. This item is
to expand the space and License Agreement for us to temporary use a few spaces and be able
to close their exit at certain times and days. In return for that,we are going to repave the rear
parking lot and fix some minor drainage situations.
Public Speakers: None
Commissioner Aelion said Porto Bellagio has to learn one or two things from the Salem
House, as a community we should care about the greater good of the community. City
Manager Russo said without further cooperation along the lines of what you are saying, it
will definitely take us longer to complete the work that has to be done on the easement of the
Porto Bellagio property. The project is well underway, the area has been cleared, they are
testing for piles and are going to be doing a test pile in the canal soon. Mayor Scholl said the
good news is that he and staff have met with the Porto Bellagio lawyer and their
Management not that long ago and they tend to be softening after the Judge told them to.
They are exercising their rights but they seem to be much more amicable toward this, and the
City Attorney has been working on moving it forward.
Commissioner Aelion moved and Commissioner Goldman seconded a motion to approve
the resolution. Resolution No. 2016-2558 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor.
10L. A Resolution of the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Ratifying a
Permit Agreement Between the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Miami-Dade County for
Use of Approximately 625 Square Feet of County Owned Property Located at 175 172"
Street,Sunny Isles Beach,Florida,Attached Hereto as Exhibit"A"; Authorizing the City
Manager to Execute Said Agreement;Authorizing the City Attorney and the City Manager to
Do All Things Necessary to Effectuate the Terms of this Resolution; Providing for an
Effective Date.
Action:[City Clerk's Note:Items 10K and I OL were heard together.] City Clerk Hines read
the title, and City Manager Russo reported this is an Agreement with Miami-Dade County
Fire Rescue to temporarily use five (5) feet of their property to expand the current entrance
driveway to the Salem House on the east end of that property so that can become a two-way
driveway while we are closing the western end of it.
12
