With a population of 55,001, the city is
widely recognized as a well-planned community with a unique
environmental consciousness, featuring an abundance of trees,
waterways, attractive landscaped roads, beautiful parks, and butterfly
gardens throughout the neighborhoods. Coconut Creek, Butterfly
Capital of the World®, is the first in the state of Florida and eleventh
in the country to be certified as a ―Community Wildlife Habitat". The
urban forestry program focuses on the management of the City’s
resources, enforcement of the code of ordinances relating to
landscape standards and requirements, participation in the Tree City
USA and Arbor Day programs, and implementation of the City’s local
programs, including the Tree Canopy Replacement Program.
In 2014, the City requested proposals to provide a comprehensive
Street Tree Inventory covering thirty-seven residential communities
within City limits. E Sciences, as the selected vendor, conducted the
street tree inventory. Work included inventorying approximately 10,000
trees within the City’s communities using sub-meter accurate global
positioning equipment. E Sciences provided the City with an ESRI
ArcGIS shape file. The work included assessing each tree for its
general condition and providing recommendations for maintenance.

ESciences, Inc.
