Grandinetti, Police Captain <br /> DATE: 7/21/2016 <br /> Approval to Expend Partial Forfeiture Funds (DOJ)for <br /> the purchase of two (2) Police K-9 Vehicles and all <br /> RE associated equipment. Hardware/Software for police <br /> network, storage & trouble shooting software and the <br /> purchase of critical incident response and ballistic <br /> protection gear, in an amount not to exceed $210,057.98 <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Commission approve the expenditure <br /> of partial Federal (DOJ) Forfeiture Funds, previously awarded to the <br /> Police Department as the results of investigative participation in <br /> forfeiture and seizure cases. These funds are permissible by law to be <br /> spent for the purchases of police equipment and other law enforcement <br /> activities. It is requested that we be permitted to utilize up to <br /> $210,057.98 of said funds on deposit for such purpose. <br /> REASONS: <br /> As domestic attacks become more increasing, law enforcement <br /> throughout the United States is becoming better trained and equipped. <br /> With the purchase of the ballistic hardware and addition of two (2) K9 <br /> Teams, we will be better prepared to safely respond to critical incidents. <br /> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: <br /> One of the benefits of participating in and providing personnel into high <br /> intensity narcotics investigations is the sharing of confiscated proceeds <br /> 63 <br />
