Summary Minutes:Regular City Commission Meeting June 16.2016 City of Sunny Isles Beach,Florida
Commissioner Levin pointed out, are not overly burdensome or onerous and she thinks the
success of the Social Seniors is really a testament to leadership of putting this together. It is
not for us to dictate who runs it just to create some supportive guidelines to the extent that
we are funding that organization.
City Manager Russo said he just wants to make one clarification with Dennis on Item No. 10.
You stated that you were going to implement getting that information in No. 10 in October,
to give him time to get that into place,he recommends that we modify the Resolution to put
to the end of the year. Mayor Scholl said if he provides what he does have and then as he
updates the data base we can get the listing. City Manager Russo said then that Item No. 10
will be modified to implement that but let him say the last quarter of the year so it is more
time than he is asking for. Mayor Scholl said the theory behind that is the outside residents
versus the inside residents,we are just trying to get a handle on that. He thinks the rest of the
guidelines state how you are going to deal with outside versus inside residents.
Commissioner Aelion moved and Commissioner Goldman seconded a motion to approve
the resolution,as amended. Resolution No.2016-2564 was adopted by a voice vote of 5-
0 in favor.
11. MOTIONS
11A. Add-On:
City Attorney Ottinot said he has good news. The developer of Turnberry Ocean Colony has
agreed to give us the property at 185th Street behind Navaro's earlier than expected. He
needs a voice motion from the City Commission authorizing the City Manager to execute all
necessary documents to post that property. Mayor Scholl explained that there is a parking lot
behind Navaro's with a Sales Center on it for Turnberry Ocean Colony that everybody is
familiar with. So we have a deal with Turnberry Ocean Colony when we gave them their site
plan approval that we would get that property deeded with us when they pulled their building
permit. They have come in, they asked for additional considerations, they have asked for
some extensions. He and the City Manager sat down with them and we said if they deed us
the property now that we would consider the additional considerations that they were looking
for, and so we basically have a deal in principle. To that end we are asking for the City
Manager to have authority to use his discretion to deal with that.
Commissioner Levin moved and Commissioner Goldman seconded a motion giving the
City Manager the authority to deal with Turnberry Ocean Colony and execute
necessary documents. The motion was approved by a voice vote of 5-0 in favor.
12. DISCUSSION ITEMS
None
10
