Sgsdem Uescruplio
The DIGITAL systems' modular hardware and flexible
software enable every installation to be tailored
precisely to meet the customer's needs. The system is
extremely versatile: it can be configured as a PBX, as a
hybrid PBX /key telephone system (KTS), or as a squared
KTS.
TECHNOLOGY
The DIGITAL systems use Space and Time Division
Multiplexing (S /FDNi) and Pulse Code Modulation (PCM).
Distributed control is achieved through the
nucrocontrollers located on each peripheral card. .
System cards are built for sophistication and economy
using Surface Mount Technology (st lT).
The incorporation of the ISDN (physical layer) passive
bus UB,D S interface) into the DIGITAL systems'
architecture enables the running of data and additional
applications as described in Section 7, and the flexible
assignment of one or two stations on a bus. Using
Executive stations or Speakerphone sets, offhook voice
announce M(h handsfree answerback can be configured
for all of the extensions in the system, with no
reduction in system capacity or performance.
SYSTEM EQUIPMENT
DIGITAL systems' equipment consists of up to three
modular cabinets. The system power supply unit(s) can
be backed by an external Battery Backup Unit (BBU) or
Unimerruptible Power Supply (UPS), to provide service
during power outages. Peripheral equipment includes
Telrad's proprietary DIGITAL sets, industry standard
SLTs, announcers, and TelradlVM — Tetrad's integrated
voice mail /automated attendant.
SYSTEM CABINETS
Each DIGITAL KEY BX system cabinet (see Figure 1) is
to be wall- mounted and contains six printed circuit card
slots and its own power supply unit. The Main Processor
card WPD) must be inserted into the first slot of the
First cabinet. All other cards may be allocated to any
slot in any cabinet.
3 3, 1( 2
= t.
Figure I The DIGITAL KEY BX system cabinet and (lie
DIGITAL 400 system cabinet
The DIGITAL 400 system can be mounted on a wall or
on a rolling base (see Figure 1).
