RESOLUTION NO.98- % o <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING <br />A CITIZENS PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE AND ITS <br />COMPOSITION; PROVIDING FOR ITS SPECIFIC <br />ADVISORY CAPACITY; RENDERING THE COMMITTEE <br />SUBJECT TO THE SUNSHINE LAWS; PROVIDING FOR <br />APPOINTMENTS TO BE MADE IN WRITING EFFECTIVE <br />IMMEDIATELY UPON SUBMISSION TO THE CITY CLERK <br />BY HIS/HER ACCEPTANCE AND FILING OF A FINANCIAL <br />DISCLOSURE FORM 1; AND PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor wishes to encourage greater citizen participation in governmental <br />affairs to work with the Commission to develop information and recommendations in various areas; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Section 2.2 of the Charter gives the Mayor the right to appoint standing <br />committees at his/her discretion at any time; <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Citizens Planning Advisory Committee be and the same is hereby created to <br />consist of fifteen members to be appointed as follows: <br />a. Each Commissioner shall submit a slate of five candidates from which the Mayor <br />shall select three thereby creating a fifteen member committee. The names shall be submitted within <br />fourteen days from the date of this Resolution and the committee shall be constituted no later than <br />one month from the date of this resolution. <br />b. In accordance with Section 2.2 of the Charter of the City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />the Mayor shall appoint both the Chair and the Vice Chair of the Committee. <br />Section 2. The powers and duties of this committee shall be solely of an advisory nature and the <br />purview of its lay recommendations shall include: <br />a. Recommendations relative to the preparation of the City's Comprehensive <br />Plan and subsequent land development regulations during the Comprehensive Planning Process. <br />b. Recommendations relative to the economic development and redevelopment <br />policies as they may relate to the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Citizens Planning Committee Res. - I - <br />
