Florida 33160 <br />(305) 947-0606 phone (305) 949-3113 fax <br />To: City Commission <br />From: City Manager <br />Date: May 4, 1999 <br />Subject: STREET SWEEPER PURCHASE <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />It is recommended that the City Commission authorize a street sweeper purchase, from <br />Souther Sewer Equipment Sales, Fort Pierce, FL, for a Schwarze A 4000 Street <br />Sweeper, with an extra set of gutter brooms, for a total purchase price of S73,000.00 <br />REASONS <br />The vendor and factory have agreed to supply the street sweeper at the same <br />S73,000.00 cost paid by Fairfax Oklahoma, one year ago. As documented, the <br />machine sold to two other entities at higher costs. The recommended Schwarze A4000 <br />Street Sweeper was street tested by the City staff and compared to the TYMCO 210, <br />produced by another manufacturer. As shown on the attached report, the Schwarze <br />A4000 judged superior on specification and field testing. The Mayor and Manager <br />then jointly negotiated with the vendor the S73,000.00 suggested price, after we <br />rejected their proposal of S74,525.00. <br />ADDITIONAL INFORMATION <br />The A4000 is currently parked in the City storage area. If the Commission authorizes <br />the street sweeper purchase, City logo and striping will be added, with street sweeping <br />service commencing in May 1999.
