The Windows NT environment is more stable than either <br />Windows 95 or Windows 98's and will provide us with far more flexible services <br />than either of these other options. This will also bring all of the workstations into <br />line with the server operating system. <br />Item 4: <br />The scanning workstation is designed to permit the automatic scanning and storage <br />of large printed documents into the digital environment. The scanner is designed for <br />high speed, high resolution scanning. It is proposed to fit it with an automatic <br />document feeder which will enable the City to batch scan documents. This <br />configuration will allow the City to save labor (both cost and time) in the scanning <br />of large documents as an employee will not have to be dedicated to performing the <br />task of inserting each page individually. The labor savings on a 250 page document <br />would be approximately 8 man hours. This purchase will undoubtedly increase <br />organizational efficiency. <br />Item 5: <br />This is a workstation necessary for the expanded general administrative services <br />staff. The machine will be a shared machine utilized by two part time employees. <br />3 <br />
