Howard Kohn <br />HOWARD KOHN is the President and Co-founder of TCG. Howard received his <br />LUMasters in Urban and Regional Planning from George Washington University and a Bachelor <br />of Arts Degree. Howard spent much of his early professional career employed by Baltimore <br />City, where he was instrumental in the development of one of the nation's most successful <br />commercial revitalization programs and public -private partnership efforts. In his role with the <br />City of Baltimore, he: <br />• conceptualized and established the commercial revitalization program, working with the <br />Chair of the Mayor's Small Business Advisory Commission; <br />• acted as the project planner for 10 revitalisation projects; <br />• acted as the market analyst for all of the revitalization efforts; and <br />• performed the role of a liaison between residential and business community interests. <br />In addition to his involvement in the above program and as a result of his strong marketing <br />and planning expertise, Howard played a key role in the following representative efforts: <br />• the development of a work program to attract tourists to the Inner Harbor; <br />• the development of the City's position and program for the Inner Harbor; <br />• the development of a financial package for an office complex in the Inner Harbor in <br />Downtown; <br />• an analysis of the seafood industry in Baltimore and identification of potential sites for a <br />proposed new wholesale seafood market; <br />• analyses of rapid transit station areas' development potential; <br />• the development of the economic development component of the master plan; and <br />• the development of a program to create a labor intensive industrial service park in the <br />Park Heights community. (The Park Circle Industrial Park is now a successful State <br />Enterprise Zone.) <br />Howard was also employed as an economic analyst for Baltimore County for several years. <br />During that tenure, he: <br />• developed market analyses and concept plans for commercial revitalization areas; <br />• assisted with the economic development component of two master plans for the <br />County; <br />• developed economic forecasts for Owings Mills and White Marsh town center areas; <br />and <br />• assisted with the development of plans for light rail and rapid rail transit station areas. <br />Howard has or was: <br />• lectured on marketing and economic development at the George Washington <br />UJ University, the University of MD., Johns Hopkins University, the U. of Baltimore, and <br />Towson State University; and <br />• received national recognition for his marketing and development work by the <br />International Downtown Executives Association, National Council for Urban Economic <br />Development, the Small Business Administration, the American Planning Association, <br />the Omicron Delta Epsilon International Honor Society in Economics, etc. <br />• the former Co -Chair of the Neighborhood Economic Revitalization Committee of <br />National Center for Urban Ethnic Affairs; <br />• the past President of the Maryland Downtown Development Association; and <br />• the past Treasurer of the Maryland Downtown Development Association. <br />THE CHESAPEAKE GROUP, INC. <br />8516 GREEN LANE, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND 21244 <br />41 A-285-17W(FAX)41 r1-571-04817) <br />
