Persons who are hearing impaired may request an interpreter for the required consultation <br />and/or panel meeting by giving seven (7) work days written notice prior to the scheduled <br />meeting date to: <br /> <br />Miami-Dade County Cultur-al Affairs Council <br />III NW I st Street, Suite 625 <br />Miami, Florida 33128 <br />TOO: 1-800-955-8770 <br /> <br />PROGRAM OBJECTIVE <br /> <br />Funded by Miami-Dade County. the Community Grants Program is responsive on a quarterly basis to not-for- <br />profit organizations developing small and large-scale community-based cultural programs, projects and events. <br />such as fairs. parades, neighborhood festivals, conferences and publications. Projects will be considered by the <br />Community Grants panel only if they have a strong community involvement and/or outreach component. Arts <br />organizations not meeting this criteria should consider applications to other Council programs. The Community <br />Grants Program is particularly sensitive to the needs of: <br /> <br />. Indigenous cultural neighborhood activities and projects encouraging the preservation of heritage. <br />traditions and culture. <br />. Social service organizations and cultural groups developing collaborative intervention projects. <br /> <br />ELIGIBILITY <br /> <br />To be eligible to apply, an organization must be legally incorpor-ated as a NOT-FOR-PROFIT <br />corpor-ation, with a designated tax exempt status under section 50 I (c)(3) of the United States <br />Internal Revenue Code. or a unit of local government. Proof of incorporation and IRS tax exempt <br />designation is required at the time of application. Applications from not-for-profit organizations designated tax <br />exempt under other subsections of 50 I (c) will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Individuals and <br />unincorporated groups may apply for program grants under the fiscal agency sponsorship of an eligible not-for- <br />profit. tax exempt organization. In such cases, the application must be submitted by the sponsoring <br />organization. <br /> <br />Note: An organization may only apply once in a program funding year (October I - September <br />30). An organization applying as fiscal agent for an individual or another organization may apply <br />again during the fiscal year for its own project. Funded applicants to the Council's Major Cultural <br />Institutions Program, Cultural Advancement and Festivals and Special Events Grants Program <br />are not eligible for funding through the Community Grants Program. Successful applicants to the <br />Community Grants Program are restricted from applying to another Council program to request <br />funding for the same project in the same funding year. <br /> <br />FUNDING REQUEST CAPS <br /> <br />Major annually recurring projects or events such as festivals, fairs and conferences benefiting a broad <br />segment of the community - MAY REQUEST UP TO $10,000. <br /> <br />One time events, publications. or smaller annual projects - MAY REQUEST UP TO $7,500. <br /> <br />FY 1999-2000 Community Grants Program Guidelines <br /> <br />Page 20f6 <br /> <br />CI-ID <br />
