<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- \ ~3 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR <br />TO EXECUTE RESOLUTION NUMBER 2000-001 OF THE <br />COUNCIL OF COASTAL MAYORS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MAYOR <br />AND COMMISSION TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE FUNDING TO <br />FULFILL THE COUNTY'S MATCHING FUND OBLIGATIONS <br />FOR PLANNED SHORE PROTECTION AND BEACH <br />RENOURISHMENT PROJECTS FOR YEARS 2000 THROUGH <br />2003; AND TO RECOGNIZE THE CRITICAL NEED FOR <br />ESTABLISHING A LONG-TERM DEDICATED FUNDING <br />SOURCE, AS DETAILED IN THE ATTACHED EXHIBIT "A" AND <br />ALSO AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE <br />RESOLUTION NUMBER 2000-002 OF THE COUNCIL OF <br />COASTAL MAYORS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY REQUESTING <br />THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY MAYOR AND COMMISSION TO: <br />DECLARE A STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR THE CRITICALLY <br />ERODED BEACHFRONT AREA IN NORTHERN MIAMI BEACH <br />AND OTHER REQUESTS AS SPECIFIED IN THE ATTACHED <br />EXHIBIT "B"; PROVIDNG FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and the City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles Beach <br />recognizes the importance of the preservation of our beaches for the benefit of the community; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council of Coastal Mayors are pursuing legislation to preserve Miami- <br />Dade County's beaches for the aesthetic, environmental hurricane mitigation and recreational <br />benefits of our residents and tourists as more specifically stated in the attached Resolutions 2000- <br />001 and 2000-02; and have requested the support of our City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to endorse the activities of the <br />Council of Coastal Mayors in preserving our beaches; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. The City Commission hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute Resolution 2000-001 <br />and 2000-002 of the Council of Coastal Mayors attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br /> <br />2.
