<br />. <br />. <br /> <br />, <br />. <br /> <br />The History of LOJACK <br /> <br />The concept on which the LOJACK system is based was developed by a <br />former police commissioner from Medfield, Massachusetts. Initial research. <br />and development work began in 1979 and a patent was obtained in 19$4. <br /> <br />During the next three years, addition~improvements were made _ to the <br />system. Then in 1984, the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety agreed. <br />to test the system in state police cars. In 1984 and 1985, LOJACK was tested <br />over 800 times by state police. They experienced a 100% recovery rate and <br />~ve~e recovery time of 1~ min~tes. <br /> <br />Based on the results, in April of 1985, Governor Michael Dub-Ids announced <br />that Massachusetts would adopt the syStem for state-wide use.
