<br />SECTION 4. Grant Purpose and Description - Provide a summary description of the project that is to befunded by the MVTPA. <br />Briefly describe the grant objectives and the grant-funded strategies and activities that will be implemented to achieve the <br />objectives. Describe how the project meets priorities established by the MVTPA, if applicable. Do not exceed one page. <br /> <br />The Department will use the funds afforded by the grant to better protect, and inform the citizens <br />of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. Some of the projects that the Department plans to undertake with the monies <br />awarded include: <br /> <br />· Sending sworn personnel to a Vehicle Identification Officer training course, which is designed to <br />train law enforcement officers to identify stolen vehicles. <br />· Implement the installation of the LO-JACK vehicle recovery system. <br />· Purchase the supplies and equipment needed to implement a VIN-etching program, <br />· Afford auto-theft training courses to Sworn Detectives to begin an Auto Theft Division of the <br />Department's Detective Bureau <br />· Community Policing workshops with local businesses to promote vehicle theft awareness and <br />protection. <br />
