<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2000- ].1- S <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING <br />AUTHORIZATION TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO <br />APPROPRIATE AND SPEND FUNDS FROM THE LAW <br />ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND, PROVIDING FOR AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes ~932. 7055(4)( a) a law enforcement agency <br />is authorized to use forfeiture funds for school resource officer, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, <br />drug abuse education and prevention programs, or for other law enforcement purposes, which <br />include defraying the cost of protracted or complex investigations, providing additional equipment or <br />expertise and providing matching funds to obtain federal grants; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes ~932.7055(4)(b) upon the request of the <br />Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be expended <br />if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of the <br />aforementioned subsection; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the expenditure of $159,675 in <br />forfeiture funds in compliance with the aforementioned statute; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of forfeiture monies. Based on the attached certification, the Chief of <br />Police is hereby authorized to spend $159,675 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund for the <br />following: <br /> <br />a. Expenditure in the amount of $80,000 for the purchase and installation of <br />police vehicle radios. <br /> <br />b. Expenditure in the amount of$15,000 for the purchase and installation oflight <br />bars. <br /> <br />c. Expenditure in the amount of $7,000 for the purchase and installation of <br />pnsoner cages. <br /> <br />d. Expenditure in the amount of $5,500 for the purchase and installation of <br />biohazardous prison seats. <br /> <br />e. Expenditure in the amount of $7,790 for purchase and installation of strobe <br />lights and headlights. <br /> <br />f. Expenditure in the amount of $19,200 for the purchase and installation of <br />vehicle computer stands. <br /> <br />g.
