<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-.31:) <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF <br />OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 932.7055, F.S. <br />(1978) TO EXPEND $19,500.00 FOR THE PURPOSES AS SET <br />FORTH HEREIN; PROVIDING FOR AN EFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes ~932.70554(b) upon the request by the <br />Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be <br />expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />this subsection; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes ~932.70554(c)(3) specifically, a law <br />enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000 pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture <br />Act with a fiscal year must expend or donate no less than 15% of such proceeds for the support <br />or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse, drug prevention, crime prevention, safe <br />neighborhood or school resource officer programs; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of forfeiture monies. Based on the attached certification, the Chief of <br />Police is hereby authorized to spend $ 19,500.00 from the last fiscal year of state forfeiture <br />monies to be utilized in the following manner: <br /> <br />A. $10,100.07 for uniform & equipment for new Honor Guard members and <br />for expenses related to a trip to Washington D.C. for a crime prevention <br />ceremony. <br /> <br />B. $9,222.00 for equipment and furniture for the Communications Bureau. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
