o/-3a-7
C I T V
17070 Collins Avenue - Suite 250 • Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160
TEL:, 305 947 0606 • FAX: 305 949 3113
OF SLIiNN V ISLES BEACH
TO: City Commission — —
FROM: Christopher J. Russo, City Manager C4
DATE: April 17, 2001 1 \
CITY COMMISSION
DAVID SAMSON
SUBJECT: RESOLUTION RE: FDOT TURF AND LANDSCAPE AGREEMENT
RENEWAL
MAYOR
LILA KAUFFMAN
RECOMMENDATION:
VICE MAYOR
DANNY IGLESIAS
COMMISSIONER
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution for contract
CONNIE MORROW
renewal with FDOT regarding the maintenance of the turf and landscape on Collins Avenue
COMMISSIONER
and Sunny Isles Boulevard.
IRVING TU RE T$KY
COMMISSIONER
REASON:
Christopher J. Russo
City Manager
prior to the City's incorporation in June 1997, FDOT maintained the turf and landscaping
Lynn M. Dannheisser
City Attorney
for Collins Avenue and Sunny Isles Boulevard. Under the State's standards, ass cutting
grass g
Richard Brown-Morilla
and litter removal is performed once a month, which was, and still is, unacceptable to the
City Clerk
City. In June, 1998, the City of Sunny Isles Beach entered into a three-year agreement with
FDOT in which the City agreed to maintain the landscaping for the medians and roadside
strips located on Collins Avenue (from 156h Street to N.W. 196s Street) and SR-826
(Sunny Isles Boulevard, from the east side of Sunny Isles Bridge to Collins Avenue). As
compensation, FDOT agreed to pay the City the sum of $7,053.12 per year or S21,159.36
for the three-year period with an option to renew if mutually agreed to by both parties and
subject to the same terms and conditions of the original agreement.
The current contract with FDOT expires in June and the City has been given us the option
to renew this contract for an additional three-year period commencing July 1, 2001 through
June 30, 2004. It is my opinion, that it would be in the best interest of the City to maintain
this agreement with FDOT.
CJR:ch
Attachment
Agenda Item C( G
Date 11-0
