<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001-33:1 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY <br />OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AWARDING A BID TO <br />BROWN AND BROWN/COREGIS INSURANCE GROUP, FOR <br />COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE AND BROKERAGE <br />SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO AWARD <br />BID TO SAID COMPANY AND NEGOTIATE INSURANCE <br />AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City noticed Request for Proposals No. 01-03-01 for qualified <br />Insurance Brokers capable of providing comprehensive scope of services, which bids were <br />opened on May 18, 2001; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City performed an exposure analysis of the current insurance program <br />and found that the City needed to improve its insurance coverage in the area of defending public <br />officials, police officers, and general liability due to the growth of services in the City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, five brokers responded with only two brokers providing insurance company <br />quotations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the two brokers were Brown & BrownfCoregis Insurance Company and the <br />Mack Group/St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company, and both insurance companies are rated <br />"A" by A.M. Best Rating Service; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the following coverages which are attached as Exhibit "A" were presented <br />in the approximate amounts to the City of Sunny Isles Beach by Brown & BrownfCoregis <br />Insurance Group: <br />.
