C l '. ,-,-,,,,., f - :. ~ ~: .::J Cost of Headquarters and Police Equipment According to preliminary architectural plans for the new municipal complex, the police headquarters accounts for approximately 27% of the total projected cost of $12 million. The anticipated cost of $3.24 million for the police headquarters was multiplied by the proportionate share factors discussed above and then divided by projected demand units in at build out of the City of Sunny Isles Beach (see Figure 16). For vehicles and equipment, the current LOS is based on the replacement cost of the current fleet, as shown in the bottom portion of Figure 16. Police patrol cars have a replacement cost of $29,000 when fully equipped with necessary add-ons, such as lights, radios and public safety equipment. The total cost of vehicles and equipment was allocated to residential and nonresidential development and then divided by the number of demand units in 2001. Impact fee revenue may be used to expand the vehicle fleet but not replace vehicles as they wear out. TA and City staff discussed minimum thresholds for vehicles and equipment to be eligible for impact fee funding. For the purpose of impact fees, we have established a minimum useful life of at least three years and minimum cost of $8,000.
