RESOLUTION NO. 2001- 355 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($40,000.00) FROM MAYOR DAVID SAMSON'S CAMPAIGN FUND TO THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH GENERAL FUND; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Mayor David Samson was automatically elected on July 19, 2001 for a second term as the only qualified candidate for Mayor of the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and WHEREAS, Mayor Samson received many contributions for his re-election campaign and he wishes to donate a portion of the unspent campaign funds to the City of Sunny Isles Beach; and WHEREAS, 9106.141 (Florida Statutes) allows municipal candidates who become unopposed to donate unspent campaign funds to the General Fund of the City, among other things; and WHEREAS, in his generosity and because he recognizes the benefit these donated funds may provide in the City's General Fund; and WHEREAS, Mayor Samson wishes to donate the amount of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) to the General Fund of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Acceptance of Donation. The City Commission hereby accepts a donation to the General Fund, in the amount of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00), from Mayor David Samson's Campaign Fund for the express purpose of providing for cost of living salary adjustments, beautification, and other General Fund purposes. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
