<br />RESOLUTION NO. 2001- '3L8 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF <br />OF POLICE, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 932.7055, F.S. <br />TO EXPEND $28,160.00 FOR THE PURPOSES AS SET FORTH <br />HEREIN; PROVIDING FOR AN EFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes g932.70554(b) upon the request by the <br />Chief of Police to the governing body of a municipality, liens and forfeiture funds may be <br />expended if accompanied by written certification that the request complies with the provisions of <br />this subsection; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with Florida Statutes g932.70554(c)(3) specifically, a law <br />enforcement agency that acquires at least $15,000 pursuant to the Florida Contraband Forfeiture <br />Act with a fiscal year must expend or donate no less than 15% of such proceeds for the support <br />or operation of any drug treatment, drug abuse, drug prevention, crime prevention, safe <br />neighborhood or school resource officer programs; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. Expenditure of forfeiture monies. Based on the attached certification, the Chief of <br />Police is hereby authorized to spend $28,160.00 from the last fiscal year of state forfeiture <br />monies to be utilized in the following manner: <br /> <br />A. $8,000.00 for expenditure of funds periodically to benefit cnme <br />prevention, community policing charitable funds and organizations as <br />permitted by Florida Statute. <br /> <br />B. $20,160.00 for cost of rental vehicles utilized in investigative and <br />undercover operations necessary to the successful operations by HIDT A <br />and Agency Detectives; 3 vehicles @ $560.00 per month. <br /> <br />Section 2. <br /> <br />Effective Date.
